Critical Thinking
What is critical thinking? How do we use it? Critical Thinking is the idea of being able to look at an object, situation, text, etc. and dissecting it, to understand all of its meaning and purpose. Not all of us can consider this our best skill, but everyone has some sort of "critical thinking" guide in them. Whether your trying new clothes on a store or watching a newly released movie, there is something inside you that makes you question things. Critical Thinking is all about asking questions and being able to answer your own questions. We are all free thinkers and critical thinking skills are something that everyone has no matter how intelligent you are. Now as far as bettering you critical thinking skills, techniques can be taught from one another in order to build your skills. Every person has their own view point on things and sharing your ideas on how you critically think with others can benefit us all.

The Writing Process
Describe the writing process you have used in the past--high school or earlier college papers. What problems did you have? What have you done that has proven useful to you? what areas would you like to improve in English 101 this semester?
Previously in my high school and college papers, I was taught various different writing processes. Some processes felt like they were tedious and others felt like I wasn't given enough directions. Throughout my education, when it came down to writing a paper I always found that getting all my ideas on paper and mapping out each paragraph by topic helped me to stay on track with my thesis. In English 101 this semester, I would like to learn how to make my papers flow better with more effective transitions and perhaps learn how to make my essays longer.
